NMCMATE is a practice aid for nurses and midwives preparing for the Nursing and Midwifery Council's Test of Competence computer-based test. It is a revision tool and nothing more.
Nothing on this site is clinical advice, and nothing on it is a direction about how to care for a patient. The scenarios, medicines, doses and observations used in our questions are hypothetical and exist to rehearse exam reasoning. They are not intended to cover every diagnosis, treatment, contraindication, caution or side effect, and they are not a substitute for the British National Formulary, your employer's policies, or your own professional judgement. As a registered professional you remain fully responsible for the care you give.
Clinical practice changes as new evidence appears. Where anything here disagrees with a current, authoritative source, the authoritative source is right and we are not.
About the exam itself
We are not the NMC. We do not have access to the live question bank, we do not know what will be on your paper, and we would not publish it if we did. Our questions are written from the NMC's published test specification and the Future Nurse proficiency standards. The NMC does not publish a pass mark and neither do we: we cannot tell you whether you would pass, only how you did on our material.
The NMC may change the test at any time. We update against its published documents, but the NMC's own guidance is always the authority.
About the OSCE simulator
The OSCE station on this site is a simulation, and its result is a simulated verdict marked against criteria we wrote ourselves. It is not a prediction of how an NMC assessor would mark you, it is not moderated by anyone, and it carries no weight with the NMC or with any employer. The four physical skills stations are not simulated here at all.
The simulated patient is generated by a language model. It can be wrong, it can be inconsistent, and it can say things a real patient would not. Treat a surprising clinical statement from it as a flaw in the simulation, not as something to learn.
No guarantee of outcome
We make no promise that using this site will help you pass, and we publish no pass rates. Buying access buys you practice material and nothing else.
